Balwinder Kaur Kalsi is a teacher by profession and is also known for her community work. She grew up in Philaur, Punjab and attended elementary and secondary schools there.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Baba Sang Dhesian College, becoming the first person in her extended family to obtain a college degree.

After graduation she taught in a school in Philaur.

In 1985 she married Narinder Singh Kalsi from the village of Kaleran. Together they have been operating their own private school in Ludhiana.

In 2000, the late S. Budh Singh Dhahan invited her to join the Guru Nanak Mission Medical & Educational Trust as a volunteer trustee. With her teaching and school administrative experience, she brings valuable knowledge contributing to the successful functioning of the organization.
